We’ve launched our new Global Mobility glossary, an online resource that explains the language of Global Mobility in plain words across Immigration, Relocation, Compensation and Moving.
We created it because Global Mobility draws on the language of immigration law, tax, payroll and logistics all at once, and terms that are routine for specialists can mean little to the managers, finance teams and relocating employees who also need to understand them. A relocating employee might be told that hypothetical tax will be deducted from their pay and that a shadow payroll will run in their host country, while their manager isn’t sure what either term means and neither is the finance team approving the cost. When people don’t share the same language, simple questions take days to answer and decisions become harder to explain.
The glossary gives everyone involved the same clear starting point, drawing on our experience of managing relocations around the world. Use it to check a term before a policy decision, to answer a relocating employee’s question with confidence or to help a new colleague get up to speed. Bookmark it and share it with your team.
