Client support update — Global Corporate Moving continues to operate within a complex and evolving logistics environment across the Middle East, with ocean carriers preparing revised routing structures and selective booking resumptions into Upper Gulf locations. While conditions remain fluid, recent carrier announcements indicate early operational planning for limited service reinstatement from 18 May, subject to regional stability and final operational confirmation.
Hapag-Lloyd and MSC have both outlined alternative routing arrangements for selected Gulf destinations including Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and the UAE. These routing structures involve combinations of transshipment hubs, feeder vessel networks and inland transport connections designed to maintain continuity while operational restrictions across the region continue to evolve.
Current routing plans include discharge through hubs such as Khorfakkan, Salalah, King Abdullah Port and selected Indian ports, followed by onward feeder and bonded transport solutions into Gulf destinations. These approaches are helping maintain service continuity, although additional handling stages and alternative routings are expected to increase transit complexity and place continued pressure on regional transshipment hubs.
Ocean freight conditions across the wider Middle East and Red Sea region remain sensitive. Schedule reliability, equipment positioning and transit times may continue to fluctuate as carriers adapt operations and monitor regional developments. Organisations managing international relocations may therefore benefit from allowing additional lead time and maintaining close coordination around shipment planning and scheduling.
Alternative routing has now become an established part of operational logistics planning across several trade lanes. Carriers, ports and logistics providers continue to adapt networks to maintain movement into and out of the Gulf region while balancing operational risk, regional restrictions and evolving customer demand.
Santa Fe continues to monitor the situation closely with our global carrier and logistics partners. We remain focused on maintaining continuity for relocating employees while supporting organisations with operational visibility, shipment coordination and the latest regional guidance as conditions continue to evolve.
